Scheme Awhile: Anne in the Facility
Nurse Michele was silent, listening, and nodding occasionally as Anne expounded upon her plans while they walked toward the private wing of the Eastern Glad Hollow Sanitarium. This wing was for the paying patients, those here of their own recognizance, finding their way to recovery from their varying woes and afflictions. A quiet and clean wing, populated by those of much more rational demeanor than those on the other side of the hospital.
Of that part of the hospital, there were rumors and tales whispered about like ghost stories concerning the violent and demented people kept there. Deviants and murderers mixed among the feeble-minded and the lame. The nurses even spoke of it with a dour tone, those they’d known who had been attacked or so saddened by the dreadfulness of the human condition they too had all but been committed.
